My Shabby-Chic Obsession

Recently I’ve become obsessed with a style of decorating called “Shabby Chic”.  Now I know that some of you may have known about this style for years, but I just discovered it a few months ago and I’m hooked!  Here’s the definition according to wikipedia:

Shabby chic (pronounced: “sheek”) is a form of interior design where furniture and furnishings are either chosen for their appearance of age and signs of wear and tear or where new items are distressed to achieve the appearance of an antique. Shabby chic – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anything that has to do with Shabby Chic I am instantly attracted to.   I think my love for this style originated in my childhood.    I grew up in South Carolina, and one of my earliest memories is a bedroom set my sister and I had.  We had twin canopy beds with shabby chic bedspread with matching lamps and curtains.  They were white with pink roses on them.  I absolutely loved that bedroom set, and had almost forgotten about it until I saw “shabby chic” resurface on Pinterest!

The look can be applied to so many venues:  Home, wedding, fashion… I’m so in love with the look that I’m looking for ways to create a “Shabby Chic” style basket.  Perhaps a mothers day basket with roses and floral bath and spa scents.  I would also love to create a “Shabby Chic” bow!  Perhaps burlap with pink and white lace and pearls!
